Quoted, Vol. 3

Getting my new computer today... I've read two books since I broke the old one. Now back to illiteracy as normal?

"There is no means of testing which decision is better, because there is no basis for comparison. We live everything as it comes, without warning, like an actor going on cold. And what can life be worth if the first rehearsal for life is life itself? That is why life is always like a sketch. No, "sketch" is not quite the word, because a sketch is an outline of something, the groundwork for a picture, whereas the sketch that is our life is a sketch for nothing, an outline with no picture."

- Milan Kundera, "The Unbearable Lightness of Being."

An Ode to Leftover Office Food

I'm always amazed by the food that people leave behind for others in office kitchens. Like one lonely slice of lunch meat sitting forlornly on a tray. Who takes the second to last piece of sandwich meat and thinks, "Yes, someone might want this pathetic deli-sliced turkey shaving. I shall let it sit out here for 4 more hours."

Note to whoever is leaving the doughnut boxes: keep on rocking in the free world!

Who on this Metro Car Likes Jens Lekman? Raise Your Hands!

When everyone is packed in together on the metro and people next to me have their iPods out, I can't help but steal a glance at the display and see what they are listening to. It's like peering into someone's soul. Who knows what you will find...maybe that somber man in a business suit is zoning out to Goldfrapp? It's generally not that interesting though, a lot of Maroon 5 and the like.

This is why I only listen to my shuffle in public.
